How we work
At Elitac Wearables we aim to reduce risk and keep our clients’ and users’ wishes top of mind. By working agile and making use of our standardized building blocks (hardware, software and textile), we can let our clients experience their concepts and ideas already in the earliest stages of development. This way, clients and stakeholders can give their feedback on these concepts early on in the process, which helps to refine and further focus the concept, reducing risks and costs throughout the development.
At Elitac Wearables, we work with an agile method (Scrum), which means that we deliver work in short-cycle periods (sprints) of two weeks.
Together with the stakeholders, we determine the work/features to be done (high level) in the upcoming sprints and the order (priority) of these features.
Prior to each sprint we plan the work we expect to deliver in the next two weeks (one sprint).
Every sprint we deliver work (visuals, prototypes, and/or demos, etc.) to the stakeholders to receive feedback, which allows for swift adjustments, and contributes to a better result. This is called the ‘Sprint Review’.
After each Sprint Review, new actions, features, etc. and their priorities as well as the time needed to develop them can be discussed.
We strive to add and show progress each sprint on one or more design disciplines involved (hardware, software, product, wearable design), to make sure we add value for the client.
Hours & Financials
- The hours mentioned (in the proposal) are an estimation. The costs will be invoiced based on the hours actually spent.
- The actual hours will not exceed the estimated hours with more than 10%, without prior consultation and written approval.
- Planning and lead times are set in consultation, before starting a specific development stage.
Elitac Wearables will work at a fixed hourly rate. External and material costs are invoiced with a surcharge of 10%.
Costs will be invoiced monthly based on hours made and in accordance with the amounts and timeline as forecast in the scope. Planning and lead times are set in consultation, before starting a specific development stage.
At the moment of signing, we invoice 10% of the first phase of the project, which will be deducted of the next invoice, which is based on the actual hours spent.
When the project starting date is postponed with more than a month after agreement, we will invoice a handling fee based on10% of the agreed budget.
Go/No-Go or Opt-Out moments
Developing new products often means doing new things, which requires research, prototyping, trial & error, and redirection in order to succeed and make progress.
At Elitac Wearables, our clients are closely involved in our developments and next step planning. This includes the possibility to steer further development in accordance with our 2-weekly sprint cycle.
As mentioned before, planning and lead times are set in consultation. At the end of each development phase, before starting a new phase, project evaluation and Go/No-Go decisions can be made.
IP and commercialisation
The new IP in the result of the project will be owned by the Client. For IP which was already owned by Elitac Wearables prior to the project, Elitac Wearables will grant the Client a non-exclusive license to use this prior IP for the Client’s own operation and processes.
